Buckingham has many events organised throughout the year including the following:
The Film Place – Buckingham’s own cinema organised and run by local volunteers, which shows a wide ranging selection of the latest films with normally two showings each week. Click here to go to the Film Place website.
University of Buckingham Concerts & Lectures – A series of regular lunchtime classical music concerts are held in the Radcliffe Centre, and evening lectures are hosted in the University’s Chandos Road building. Click here to go to the University website.
Held on two consecutive Saturdays in October, a traditional fairground in the town centre commemorates the charters given by Mary Tudor in 1554 and Charles II in 1684.
Other traditional events in addition to occasional Art and Craft exhibitions and Music and Drama Festivals include the May Day celebrations, Music in the Market (May), Band Jam (August), Bonfire and Fireworks (November) and the Christmas Parade (December).
A full week of events from the 13th to the 21st July. This year’s theme, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1st moon landing is – The Sun, The Moon and The Stars. Full details will be published nearer the time.
A week of superb classical and modern music, featuring concerts and recitals by local and nationally renowned professional artistes at various venues throughout the town. www.buckinghamsummerfestival.org
The Festival welcomes many internationally famous authors and commentators to Buckingham as well as bringing theatre and running a schools outreach programme. Last year, we entertained almost 2000 visitors. this year’s dates TBA.
